490 ₾ Learn more
Udziro is a heart-shaped mountain lake. It is located at an altitude of 2,800 meters and shimmers with a bluish-turquoise color in the sunlight. The route passes through forest slopes, alpine meadows, and rocky areas. It is definitely worth visiting if you love untouched nature.
We are going to Racha, one of the most underrated and beautiful mountain regions of Georgia. We will spend the night in a cozy guest house so that we can set off in the morning full of energy.

The first day of hiking will be a real challenge: about 8 km of trail and a 1,600-meter climb. We will ascend from shady forests and flowering meadows to rugged stone slopes.
The reward for our efforts will be one of the wonders of the Caucasus—Lake Udziro, sparkling like a turquoise mirror at an altitude of almost 2,800 meters. We will set up camp right by the water and spend the night under the starry sky.

In the morning, we will pack up camp and continue on our way. These will be two days in the mountains filled with impressions: the grandeur of the rocks, the silence of the alpine meadows, the clear water of the high-mountain lake, and the warm company of new friends.
  • 19 km, ↑↓1700 m
On the first day, we walk 8 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1,600 meters, and on the second day, we walk 10 kilometers with a descent of 1,700 meters.
  • Intermediate
The hike is not easy, but it is feasible for most people. If you have already been on one-day hikes or multi-day trips, with our help you will be able to do it.
  • Night in a tent
We set up camp right by the lake at an altitude of 2,800 meters. It’s a great place and time to admire not only the stars, but also the Perseids.
Our plan
friday
Tbilisi — Glola
In the evening, we meet in Tbilisi and head towards Racha. Along the way, we admire the picturesque gorges and mountains, and by nightfall we arrive at a guest house in the village of Glola. Here we have dinner, get to know each other, and rest before tomorrow’s climb.
saturday
Way to the lake
9 km, ↑1600
After breakfast, we begin our route. Today, we will walk about 8 km with an elevation gain of 1,600 meters. First, we walk through the forest, then the trail leads us to alpine meadows and rocky slopes. With each step, we are treated to increasingly breathtaking views of the Caucasus Mountains.

At lunchtime, we stop for a snack with a view of the mountain panoramas. Towards evening, we climb to the pearl of the route — Lake Udzirō at an altitude of almost 2,800 m. Here we set up camp right by the water, cook dinner on stoves, and enjoy the turquoise mirror of the lake, which reflects the sunset and stars in the evening.
sunday
Back to Shovi
10 km, ↓1700m
In the morning, we have breakfast, pack up camp, and begin our descent. Today’s route is about 10 km long with an elevation drop of 1,700 meters. The trail leads through alpine meadows and picturesque gorges down to the resort village of Shovi, known for its mineral springs and fresh pine air. We will make stops along the way for photos and rest. At the end of the route, we will stop for dinner at a café and then head to Tbilisi.
